Pixieset's whole architecture assumes you deliver a finished gallery to an inbox days after the shoot. That model fits the 2013 wedding photographer who edited Sunday and emailed Wednesday. Pixieset doesn't track who saw which photo or who downloaded what. They have a dashboard. We have a SHA-256 hash chain. When a magazine uses your work uncredited two years later, Pixieset gives you analytics. We give you evidence.

Pixieset has a hard cap on storage. Run over and your galleries go dark. Clients see broken links. We've heard this complaint from every pro who's left them. Encore has soft caps with a grace period. Your galleries keep working while you decide what to do.

Pixieset's print store is mature — print-lab integrations, fulfillment, sales tax. We don't ship that yet. If 60%+ of your revenue is gallery print sales, stay where you are.

Encore's depth is overkill for a low-volume hobbyist. The Pit Pass, Receipts, Roll IDs, anniversary email — none of it pays back if you're not shipping work weekly. Pixieset's free tier is fine for that shape of practice.

Pixieset bundles a CRM-shaped lite. We don't. We'd rather be world-class at the gallery + delivery + post-attribution layer and let you bring your own booking (HoneyBook, Studio Ninja, Sprout) than ship six mediocre tools in a box.

If the photographer Facebook groups, the templates, the third-party LR plugins — that whole ecosystem is what you actually pay Pixieset for, switching costs are real. Worth naming.
